It's hard to
determine exactly how
soccer became so popular
in England
in the 19th century, but
the truth is
that in the
mid 19th century, almost every major town had a semi-professional soccer team. These teams were usually associations of workers from the same factory
or institution or simply students at a local University.
Matches between
those teams were played occasionally, with little to no prize, but only
for competition's sake. However, these matches were played without any rules or a
referee and as soccer isn't necessarily a sport that's completely clean of violence, all it took
was a harsh tackle or
an argument about a particular rule to start a
bloody fight between the two teams and their supporters.
But the year 1863 marked an
extremely important
chapter in
English soccer history, as several soccer clubs from all over the country (prominently from London) met
up in the English capital and set up a sort of "soccer constitution"
called the Laws of the Game (a modified version of the original rules
are still in effect today and are still called as such).
That was
also the birth certificate of the Football Association, or simply FA that is still ruling over English soccer
nowadays and had a
tremendous importance
throughout the
history of soccer in England and the way it evolved.

With England
being rightfully considered the
inventors of modern soccer, one would expect them to be
amongst the most successful national squads in the World. However,
despite having
some world class soccer players throughout time and despite always
being favorites
for the competitions they start in, the English national squad only achieved few important milestones throughout the entire soccer history in England.
The apogee of English soccer and the most important chapter
ever to be written in the entire history of soccer in England was
definitely the successful World Cup run in 1966, a competition that was held on English ground, giving them the advantage to grasp their
long-awaited trophy.
The 1966 team, captained by legendary Bobby Moore and with other key components such as Jackie Charlton or Geoff Hurst playing
regularly, remains the best national squad in the entire English soccer history, especially since their success has not been equaled ever since.
English Soccer History Modern Era
England is still a top team in Europe and throughout the World and has some players that are considered having world class quality, but the national team still has
moderate success, despite being star-studded.
Recently, the form of English clubs overshadowed the poor performance of the national team, as Manchester
United, Chelsea, Liverpool or Arsenal continue to be heavy contenders for each year's European Champion's
League, the most prestigious club competition in the World.
Despite being happy with the respect English clubs impose in Europe,
fans are still yearning for that long awaited European or World Cup which could mark a new important chapter in the English soccer history.

There are a lot of reasons
that move people
to give to the church. I know that some people give
as a write-off so that they will get a
break on the
taxes they pay to the government. If that is your
only motive for
giving, it is not a
proper one.
A
tax write-off is just not enough. That is not going to
help you any with God.
Some people give to the church to gain a
reputation for giving.
The Bible truth of the matter is that God
really isn't interested in our money. Oh, don't get me wrong. The Bible says we are supposed to
give. But it's our heart condition that God is
most interested
in. In fact, even more
than money, he wants us to give our
time, our prayers and our service to the institution he's created to be his hands and feet on this
earth: The church.
There are Bible stories galore about the consequences of not supporting the church.
It is striking that the very first death
recorded in the church occurred
when a couple, Ananias and Sapphira, decided they would gain a reputation for
giving that they did not really deserve.
In the fifth chapter of Acts we read that other people were giving property. This couple thought they would get in on the honor and prestige that was being heaped on those who generously gave, so they gave some of the proceeds from tome land they sold.
But they pretended that they gave all of it when they really did not.
When the Holy Spirit dealt with that hypocritical kind of giving he dealt very severely with it.
Some people give
because they were afraid of dying and they want to make Brownie points with God.
There have been people who give hundreds of thousands of dollars because they felt it would help them in their standing before God at the judgment seat. But they were not giving to help the cause of God or the church. They gave because they thought they could buy Gods favor.
All
these are wrong motives.
When it comes to giving, motive is more important than the amount.
God is not so interested in how much you give the church, but why you give. Do you love the church? Thats the example we have from Christ.
More than
24 million seniors collectively

So helping others and serving as Jesus commands us to do is not only a
good thing to do, it's good for us. In fact, we were all created with a desire to serve. That's why it
feels so good when we do so, because it's what we were made to do.
But the real
reason we serve is because that is what Jesus did. that's the example he lefty us in the Bible.
We know it as the Golden Rule: Do unto othwers as you'd have them do to you.

Sudden Aggression in Older Dogs
There are many forms
of dog aggression.
The distinguished police dog trainer Ed Frawley
of Leerburg Kennels names
16 forms
in his training guides, accounting for everything from the dogs gender, to their possessiveness, territoriality, dominance,
or fear. The residential dog owner doesnt necessarily need to be so academic,
but they should always be able to recognize
aggression and deal with it appropriately. Aggression
is always one step away from
a dog bite, which is itself one step away from a vet bill and a lawsuit.
The common signs of aggression are growling,
snarling, barking, curled lips, lunging and
an overall menacing posture, where the dog is tensed and ready to snap. (Note: there is also something known as a submissive smile exhibited by some dogs, whereby the animal actually shows its teeth as it approaches. Ive seen this behavior confuse many owners, but it
can be dismissed as such by the dogs lowering its head as it smiles, and often wag its tail too). There are other indications, such as jumping or mounting, or even standing in your way that are much less of a problem and often go ignored
when not accompanied by the other more severe signs.
One of the
most often misunderstood forms of aggression is that which arises in
older dogs all of a sudden, especially when those dogs have been docile, even submissive, for most of their lives. This can be upsetting, as it seems like your dog is turning all Jekyll and
Hyde on you.
First of all, dont worry or think that you need to be afraid of your friend. You should be able to narrow down the cause when you think about the situation you were in when the aggression manifested itself. If the dog reacted badly to a younger dog or even a puppy, chances are your dog is acting out of new sense of a challenge to their pack status. Even if you never had problems of this kind before, a young and over-energetic dog can pose a challenge to an older dog that can
no longer keep up, even if the only thing on the young dogs agenda is play.
Older dogs in particular may enjoy puppies, but because of their
increased age and decreased endurance, they will only tolerate them for a time. After a self-determined grace period, they will
let the puppy know theyve had enough in a firm and forceful way. In most cases, this message is sent with a snap that is all bark and no bite.
In addition, one of the most common hidden causes of aggression in older dogs is the onset of arthritis, which makes them not only less able to engage with other dogs, but also potentially vulnerable and defensive as a result. Stiffness in the morning, a reluctance to jump up into cars or their favorite chair, and general lethargy are all early signs of joint pain. Arthritis in dogs is unfortunately very common, a result of genetic factors, diet, or even over-exercise. If arthritis is causing a dog pain, then they can lash out not only at other dogs, but also at you.
See your vet if arthritis is a possibility, as there are plenty of steps you can take to address the problem, from dietary supplements to massage and acupuncture, and a revamped exercise regimen. Anti-inflammatory drugs are effective but best left as a last option (they cost a good bit and they can be rough on the dogs stomach).
Other
medical reasons can cause aggression in older dogs, such as thyroid gland problems and possible brain tumors.
These are rare cases, but they do happen. Dogs live and learn by routine and tend to act in character. Therefore, in general any sudden and sustained behavioral change to your dog should be investigated.

Under normal circumstances your dog will
be able to eat and profit from almost anything
you give him, including almost all of the food items forbidden by rumor and fear. Milk, for example, will not cause worms in dogs, any more than it does in you. Raw meat will not cause worms any more than cooked, (which
is not at all), nor will it make him vicious.
If you feed your dog nothing but raw meat he will thereby suffer from
an unbalanced diet, malnutrition, and may get irritable and touchy. One item that is not recommended is pork in any large amount. Pork and particularly pork fat, is an extremely rich meat and can easily overburden a dogs system.
One superstition concerns raw eggs and the dogs coat. People will go to considerable expense to feed a pup or the adult dog raw eggs, sometimes two or three a day, in the hope that a shiny coat will result. There is, unfortunately nothing to it. It just does not work. Neither will garlic or onions have any effect on intestinal worms; they can only be stopped by medication. In short, what you feed him nourishes him. If he needs
medical treatment, give him medicines.
On the positive side, beef and more fresh beef can do him nothing but good. Beef is the best source of
protein, and good beef muscle cuts can be bought
relatively cheap. Beef bones are almost without exception good for dogs, especially the heavy long and knuckle bones. The only exception being to smaller
breeds that may become choked due to their smaller throats.
Bones will also provide mouth exercise and aid in removing plaque build-up on teeth. Once in the stomach, bones are rapidly dissolved and digested. The dogs stomach acids work things over rapidly reducing almost anything to digestibility. This, incidentally, is why you
should not worry if your dog wolfs his food without seeming to chew it all. All the digestion goes on in his highly durable and efficient stomach.
