September's UK Horse Racing With Tips From Malcolm Heyhoe
Punters are
in for
a busy time
of it
in September as
the Flat racing season moves swiftly into its autumn phase starting with the William Hill Sprint Cup, a Group1 contest over six furlongs
at Haydock on Saturday September 2.
Class has traditionally
been the defining factor in this well-contested sprint course and its therefore no surprise
to see horses
that have run well in the Group1 July
Cup featuring
again over the sharp six furlongs
at the Lancashire course.
Weather permitting, the imperious Iffaaj should take all the beating if he turns out at the Lancashire course after an unlucky second
to Les Arcs in the July Cup. Arguably the best sprinter in Europe right now, the Godolphin-trained colt wont want the ground too soft if hes to turn out at the Lancashire course.
In his absence the Jeremy Noseda-trained Soldiers Tale would hold strong claims. He is less ground dependent than Iffraaj and after a lengthy absence his connections are hopeful that she can return to the fray in winning form at Haydock Park. Nunthorpe hero Reverence is another to consider if he can harness his sublime talents to the longer trip.
If its September then racings rolling caravan must be in Yorkshire for the St Leger, the worlds oldest classic
which normally takes place at Doncaster. This time around the latter venue is being thankfully re-built at enormous cost and as a consequence the Leger meeting has been shoe-horned into two days at
York - September 8 and 9 - instead of the usual four days.
This is no bad thing given the dodgy state of the ground on the Knavesmire and it
will be relief when racing returns at Doncaster for 2008. Staged over a mile and six furlongs, the St Leger calls for stamina, courage and class in a prospective winner. A select field of eight or nine are likely to go to post and the hot favourite, Sixties Icon holds strong claims.
Hes looked a class apart from most of his rivals when waltzing away with the Gordon Stakes at Goodwood last time, a race which is an acknowledged trial for the St Leger. Of the rest, the Mick Channon-trained Youmzain showed fine speed to land the Great Voltigeur Stakes at the Ebor meeting but that piece of form doesnt looks as strong as the Goodwood success of Sixties Icon.
The Tote Portland Handicap on September 8 is the big handicap race of the truncated Leger fixture and could go the way of the Stuart Williams-trained Hogmaneigh, an easy winner at Sandown last time
who could well take in this race en route to a crack at the Ayr Gold
Cup later in the month. Anna Pavlova is also a name to look out for in the Park Hill Stakes, a Group race for fillies on the same day.
Over at Leopardstown on September 9 the Baileys Irish Champion Stakes takes place at Leopardstown, and is one of the better clashes of the generations run over a mile and half all season. This time around all eyes will be upon Dylan Thomas as he bids to put a dreadful effort in the Juddmonte International at York behind him over a course that he has won over previously.
The following week racing heads north of the border or the three fine days of the Ayr Western Meeting and the Ayr Gold Cup, the richest spring handicap in Europe is the feature on Saturday September 16.
This years race, which has been landed in four out of the past five seasons by trainer Dandy Nicholls, features not one runner from the Nicholls yard after an administrative error meant that no horse from the stable
was entered for the great spring contest. The air must surely have turned the deepest blue
above the Nicholls yard on the day this blunder was discovered.
Still
northern trainers, who tend to do better in this race than their southern counterparts, will be gunning to secure the valuable prize once again with Stewards Cup hero, Borderlescott sure to be among the leading fancies
while Kevin Ryans Mutamared holds good claims and Ian Semples Scottish raider, Appalachian Trail is another for the short-list. Remember too that is a poor race for three-year-olds who often struggle in the large fields against their more experienced and older rivals.
Over at Newbury on the same day as the Ayr Gold Cup theres the always informative and influential Cambridgeshire trial in the shape of the 100,000 John Smiths Handicap which is required viewing for any prospective Cambridgeshire backers. Last years winner of the latter race, Blue Monday, was just touched off at Newbury and this years race may again supply the winner of the first leg of the autumn double.
On a cracking days racing Leopardstown also stages the Irish St Leger, the only classic run outside of Britain this month and this should provide the fast-improving stayer Yeats with a golden opportunity to add to his Ascot and Goodwood Cup successes. Its had to see any horse being god enough to lower this ones colours.
On September 23 its the chance for the top milers to strut their stuff in the Group1 Queen Elizabeth 11 Stakes at the newly re-vamped Ascot. George Washingtons eclipse at the hands of the workmanlike Caradak in a muddling Celebration Mile at Goodwood represented the low point of three-year-old fortunes against the older horses and it will
Be interesting to see whether the 2,000 Guineas hero can come good again in the Ascot showpiece.
This years classic generation has been wretched in competition with their
elders and the Godolphin team will be hopeful of landing a fourth Queen Elizabeth Stakes in the past decade with their fast-improving Deauville winner, Librettist. A multiple winner this season, he should again go well now that hes shown he can cut it at the top level.
Newmarket is the final port of call in September for three days of the Cambridgeshire meeting on the Rowley Mile. Those keen to glean further Classic clues for 2007 will be hoping that Jeremy Nosedas star filly Sander Camillo turns up for the Cheveley Park Stakes for two-year-old fillies on September 28 while a day later the Prix Morny winner Dutch Art might will most likely be in action with the juvenile colts for the Middle Park Stakes. Whatever the final nature of the fields for races, the outcome of both contests could well have a significant bearing upon next
seasons spring Classics.
A cracking months racing
comes to an exiting close with the totesport Cambridgeshire on September 30 and there can be no better handicap run all season than this one mile and a furlong contest. Recent York winner Smart Enough looks a likely sort as does his fellow three-year-old Sir Gerard while of the older generation Fairmile makes plenty of appeal after a luckless defeat at Haydock in August.

Soccer Goal Keeping Accessories
The main
accessories for safe
goal keeping in soccer games consist of helmet, gloves, elbow and knee pads, mouth,
ankle and shin guards. Goalies
also have apparels tailored to suit
their preference.
Colorful jerseys are available for $20. Goalie shorts range
from $13 to $20 depending on the brand and the material used. Padded compression shorts for both men and women are priced at around $30. Knicker
pants, Long pants and Full trainer pants can also be obtained within a price range of $30 to $40.
There
is tremendous choice with respect to the gloves. Sondico Pro Player made from German Latex and having
Elastic with Velcro closure
is probably the most reasonably priced at $10. Gloves with super soft palm foam marketed by Adidas, Lanzera
Livorno and are a little over $100. For proper maintenance of the gloves, bags and gloves wash solution form an integral
part of the gloves accessories.
Shin guards range from $6 to $35.
The shin guards along with their accessories consisting of athletic, medical tape are important safety aids.
Footwear for the goalkeeper depends on the firmness of the
ground. Nike, Adidas and Kelme Master specialize in customized footwear for hard ground. These provide maximum speed, stability and ball control. Along with these companies, footwear from
Puma, Diadora and Umbro X300 cater to games on soft ground.
Goals of various sizes form the most important part of training sessions. These include futsal and indoor
goals as well as lightweight and pop-up goals. 6 foot pop-up goals and the portable, adjustable, folding goals are most convenient for a game anywhere.
One of the best methods for keepers to increase the
strength in their
forearms and fingers is the use of
hand grip gels. Originally developed for mountain climbers these are fast
becoming popular among aspiring goal keepers. Not only are they great stress-busters, the soft hand grip gels are also terrific finger and hand strengtheners.
There is a wide variety of books and videos available elucidating the various
strategies involved in goal keeping. Who wouldnt want to watch a DVD of 202 Great Saves for just under $27? The breath taking maneuvers are quite possible to effect in a field game. All it takes is to meticulously follow the drills and exercises specified in the training software designed for beginners and intermediates. The Soccer GoalKeeper a set of 3 tapes for $71 lists out a series of exercises exclusively for goal keepers to increase their fitness level as well as
master the technique of goal keeping!

I Am The Dog Whisperer
I AM THE DOG WHISPERER
I am often asked by potential students
to define dog whisperer for them. On occasion, Id take 2 minutes and
other times Id take 60, trying to condense one term
into a facile definition. Due to my own personal frustration
in finding a
complete definition
of dog whispering,
I finally just decided to sit down and really create a guide that would fully explain dog whispering; what
it is, what it aint, to everyones satisfaction, especially mine!
I am
the Dog Whisperer. All too often I see you after a traumatic experience with
your dog, when you are scared and upset. You call me to rescue you from chaos and insanity, but it is already too late.
Your life is in shambles, the neighbors hate you, a child is disfigured, the victim is pressing charges, the police are at the door, and
your home is at risk. I, however, can't turn back the hands of time and prevent the fatal attack, but I can help you and your family move forward and plan for tomorrow. I am the Dog Whisperer.
When your heart is broken, I'm quickly on the scene. I will repair the lost hope; rekindle the loving feeling that you once had toward your dog. In time, I will help you learn to trust your dog again, and I will help you dog learn to trust in you once more. I am the Dog Whisperer.
Sometimes you are frustrated with the inconvenience and expense of having to hire me. But when you call, I will be right there with the tools and training to resolve your dog training concern so that you, your family and your community can feel safe and
secure. I am the Dog Whisperer.
I am available to help you housetrain your little Christmas puppy. I am there to place the missing
obedience training on your
out of control, hormonally driven adolescent dog so that he can stop jumping up on Grandma. We can help the shelter or rescue dog fit into your lifestyle easily, safely and sanely. Even though you may have picked a dog that does not fit in with your lifestyle: it's too big, too mean, too hyper, with my training and gentle touch, I can make sure that the dog learns to follow your direction. I am the Dog Whisperer.
In the best of all worlds, you will call me to help you with your new
spring time puppy, you'd call me to help you pick the right dog from the shelter and you'd call me to so that I could talk you out of purchasing that puppy from the pet store. I offer products and services to help protect that which is yours. I read magazines, attend seminars and belong to trade groups so that I can increase my knowledge and my ability to help you solve your problems. I am the Dog Whisperer.
I am a Dog Whisperer. I am a psychologist, a teacher, a poet, a shaman, an artist, a preacher, a parent. I deal with people that are upset and
dogs that are upset; I calm the savage beast within each one of you. I have been trained to secure and protect your children, your home, your assets and even your life. I have devoted my life to help you have the American Dream; a happy family with a happy dog.
Who Am I? I am an Animal Rights Activist. I believe that animals have the right to be educated so that they can fit into our modern life. I believe that it is inhumane and immoral to have an untrained, uneducated dog that is a danger to the family and the community. Our domestic dog
has the right to have the kindest, the best, the most effective, most humane training tools and methods used for
their education, so that every dog in America can have the greatest of gifts; a good and loving home.
Who Am I? I am a Pro-Choice Activist. People have the right to have all training tools and training methods at their disposal so that they can make an informed choice as to what
tools, techniques and tips will work best with their dog, their lifestyle and their personality.
Who Am I? I am a Pro-Life Activist. I believe that murdering dogs for bad behavior when a particular training tool or training technique fails them. If one training tool or technique fails, then the dog and the owner have the right to seek relief and rehabilitation from other dog professionals that may use alternative techniques.
http://www.animalrights.net/quotes.htmlWho Am I? I am Pro-Traditional Family Values. Good families deserve to own good dogs. Good dogs are dogs that are well-mannered, tolerate children, are polite to strangers and do not poop, pee or bite where or when it is inappropriate. Good dogs create good families, good families create good neighborhoods, and good neighborhoods create good cities.
Who Am I? I support Breed Tolerance. All breeds can be trained and educated to be good family members, good community members and assets to our modern life. I despise Breed Bigots, the radical elements in American society that claim a dogs breed matters more than his
behavior. Punish the deed, dont exterminate the breed.
http://www.nokillnow.com/PETAIngridNewkirkResign.htmWho Am I? I am against The Culture of Death pushed by PETA, HSUS, ALF, ELF and other domestic animal rights al-queada groups. These groups are committed to the complete extermination of the domestic dog in good, loving, American families.

I defer to Mother Nature, for she always knows best. The best way to rehabilitate a dog is to treat it like a dog, not like us. The dog is born on to this planet to experience life as a dog, not a person. Mother Nature is always right, always appropriate and never makes mistakes. So if you communicate with a dog in his language respecting the particulars of his dog culture, then a good dog is always the result.
Who Am I? I am a Fido Freedom Fighter: I believe that dogs think and feel much like people do. I do not believe that the dog is a unthinking, unfeeling,
black box that operates on a simple reward/punishment paradigm. I know that the dog dreams, the dog remembers, the dog thinks and that the dog
has a soul, in his own doggie way. I believe that dogs deserve to have as much freedom as good manners and good grooming will allow them in our modern lives, which means well mannered dogs should be allowed everywhere. I believe that good dog training should not be a crime. I am the Dog Whisperer and I support the National Urban Eden Days Good Dog Doctrine.
The Urban Eden Good Dog Doctrine
The public has the right to be safe from dog bites. The public has the right to act stupid around dogs, and not get bitten.
The public has a right to clean, healthy,
well-groomed, well-behaved, invisible dogs.
The public has the right to not step in dog droppings.
The public, when in a public space, has the right to not be pestered by a dogs bad behavior such as: barking, sniffing, being jumped up on, licking, pawing, whining, growling, biting, humping of things, peeing on things.
